We are very happy to be sending you all our summer newsletter.
We hope that you are well, and making the best of this year's version of summer!
Thank you for being shareholders in the buildings of our community pub. Without your investments we would not be able to continue to support the venture, and we are very grateful to you.
We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this year's AGM which is on Wednesday 7th September 2016 to be held in the Coverdale Memorial Hall in Carlton. at 7.30pm. We ask that you put the date in your diary and make every effort to attend. It is essential that the AGM is quorate of enough of our members (at least 38) in order to pass any items on the agenda that require a vote.
We are anticipating that a dividend could be in the offing so we need your presence please!
The invitation and the papers will be coming out in August, but please make a plan to join us. Thank you.
Merry Christmas! It is with great pleasure that we are sending our CCP shareholders the fifth Christmas Newsletter following the re-opening of the Foresters Arms as a Community Pub in December 2011.
It is due to you maintaining your investment in the Coverdale Community Pub Ltd that keeps the buildings of the Foresters Arms in good shape so that the tenants can run their business from there. This year we have been fortunate that there have been minimal repairs to the roof and some radiator work only. During this year we have seen the first tenants of our Community pub be replaced by our second tenants.
Six Weeks in.....
We thought it helpful to give you an early update as to how things were going at the Foresters Arms with our new tenants and asked Keith and Lesley to write a few words. Here they are:
We took over the running of The Foresters on July 27th. We have now got six weeks under our belts and what a six weeks they have been. We have been fortunate to have inherited a great team, who have been very patient in letting us get to know the systems in place, especially in the dining room. Thanks guys. Little things have surprised us. We knew you liked cask ales but wow, the good folk of Coverdale sure love their wine. We have changed the wine supplier and you seem to like the results. We have continued the policy of using local breweries for their excellent beers but, we will introduce some well-known national brews into the mix.
New era at the Foresters Arms!
We told you in the last newsletter that Lesley and Keith Sharpe had agreed to become our new tenants at the Foresters, we are delighted to tell you now that the new era has started as from 27th July 2015, as they are in and running the pub and we wish them every success in their new life at the Foresters Arms. We asked them to contribute a little something for the newsletter and this is what they had to say:
Happy Start of Summer!
It does not seem two minutes since we were wishing you all Happy New Year and now with the cricket starting at Lords this week we usher in what hopefully will be a glorious summer. Over the last four months the committee have been busy working on your behalf to find some new tenants to take over the pub. You would have thought that this would have been easy! Well we under estimated the work it would take.
The economic climate has changed greatly in the four years since we last tried to recruit and the number of people showing interest in our type of venture appeared to have dwindled. We have run a significant advertising campaign and have sent information to hundreds of pub landlords to make people aware of the opportunity that we have to offer.
