Renovation Works Beginning and Recruitment Underway!

The generosity of our supporters has continued over this last month with more people converting their pledges into cash as we close in on our £350,000 target.  We have raised a total of £325,000 in cash.  For those of you that have converted your pledges into cash you will shortly be receiving your share certificates.

The management committee are now busy on two fronts, planning the renovations and getting quotations for the work and also running the recruitment programme.

Our aim is to put the pub back to its original layout and we are in discussions with the planning authority about the works needed to be carried out and whether or not planning permission will be required.  We do not believe, at this stage, that this will delay our plans.

We have had a number of tradesmen survey the pub in order to assess the cost of plumbing and heating works, electrical wiring, general building works and the supply and fitting of a new kitchen. We expect within a couple of weeks to have a much clearer picture of the total cost of the works and we will then be able to engage builders that meet our budgets.

On the recruitment front we have had an excellent response to all of our advertising resulting in fourteen applications being received. Three of those have withdrawn at the first stage and on Monday 22nd August, 2011, the recruitment sub-committee will interview eleven applicants for the tenancy. Following the interviews we will shortlist the group and invite a number back for a second round review in the middle of September. The final groups will be deliberated over by the full management committee towards the end of September leading to us making an offer to the best applicant(s) by the beginning of October, well in time for them to get up and running for Christmas.

We are not yet taking bookings for Christmas lunch. However, anyone wishing to reserve a place should contact Raymond Brown direct!

Thank you all again for your ongoing support.
